I tell people that instead of taking a marriage course before getting married, the church or state should require a prospective couple to go on a 3 day canoe trip. If you survive the trip without the urge to tie a rock around your partner's neck and dump them in the middle of the lake - well then you may make it through married life. Needless to say I hated the trip with my wife - or should I say my now ex-wife. Given how we got along while canoeing it was only a matter of time before the divorce some 12 years later.
I look back on that trip, which honestly I barely remember, and know why I enjoy solo canoeing.
